KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's lacrosse team won their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener on the day that the Lady Reds celebrated Senior Day, defeating the University of Dubuque, 13-3.
The win moves the Lady Reds to 8-3 and to 1-0 in the CCIW, while the Spartans fall to 5-3 and 0-1 in the league.
Carthage dominated the team stats in the win, outshooting Dubuque 39-15 and 29-10 on goal, forcing 30 turnovers to just 17 for Carthage and clearing 17-of-19 opportunities, while limiting Dubuque to just ten on 25 chances. The Lady Reds also dominated in ground balls with 40 to just 18 for the Spartans.
Senior
Rachel Mussell was one-of-three Lady Reds to record a hat-trick in the win, being joined by
Jessie Gibson and
India Soodan with three goals each as well.
Megan McNamara once again led the Lady Reds with three assists, giving her 27 on the season and tied with Mussell with a team-high six ground balls in the win.
After posting a first half shutout with five saves, goalkeeper
Maggie Allen earned her eighth win of the season, finishing the game with seven saves.

"Today was a great win for our team and our seniors on Senior Day," said head coach
Lauren Hein. "The five of them have meant so much to this program over their four years. 1-0 is a great way to start off conference play, but now we have to turn our focus to North Central for what will be a great game on Wednesday."
The Lady Reds will return to action on Wednesday at Art Keller Field when Carthage hosts North Central College at 7:00 p.m. in a huge CCIW game between 1-0 teams.
