MEQUON, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds snapped their three-game skid on Saint Patrick's Day, Saturday, defeating Concordia University Wisconsin on the road, 18-14.
The win moves the Lady Reds to 5-3 on the season, while the loss by the Falcons drops CUW to 1-3.
The offensive battle saw 21 goals in the first half with the Lady Reds taking a one-goal edge into the break, 11-10. Carthage led for most of the half until the Falcons scored three-straight goals to take an 8-7 lead with 10:59 remaining in the half. The Lady Reds responded with three-straight of their own to regain the lead.
After falling behind 12-11 to open the second half, the Lady Reds took control of the match with a 5-1 run to put Carthage up 16-13. Carthage would add a pair of goals before the nine-minute mark to give the Lady Reds the win.
The Lady Reds scored their 18 goals on 40 shots, including 29 on target, while the Falcons tallied their 14 goals on 28 shots, with 21 coming on goal.
Jessie Gibson led all players with five goals in the win coming on just six total shots.

India Soodan each collected hat-tricks in the win and
Bryanna Barrera had a pair of goals. Rounding out the scoring for Carthage was
Greigh Hoeft and
Savanna Giesler with one goal each. Gibson also led the Lady Reds with six draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Emily Lima led the defense with five ground balls in the win and
Maggie Allen posted seven saves for her fourth win of the year.
The Lady Reds return to Art Keller Field next Saturday when they face Trine University at 4:00 p.m.
