KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's lacrosse team dropped their third straight game Wednesday night, falling for the first time at home to Aquinas College, 13-8.
The loss sends the Lady Reds to 4-3 on the season, while the Saints improve to 4-1.
Carthage opened strong, taking a 2-0 lead just over five minutes into the game behind goals from
Jessie Gibson and Rachell Mussell, but a 4-0 run but Aquinas quickly put the Lady Reds in a 4-2 hole with 14:55 remaining in the half.
Megan McNamara pulled the Lady Reds within one with her first goal of the game, but another 3-0 run from the Saints extended their halftime lead to 8-3 after the opening 30 minutes.
Down the stretch, Carthage and Aquinas exchanged goals in the second half with both teams scoring five in the half to reach the 13-8 final.
McNamara was the leading scorer for the Lady Reds in the loss, tallying career-highs in goals and assists with three of each to record six points.
Jessie Gibson added a second half goal to give her two in the game and Mussell,
Bryanna Barrera and
Nicole Bowman each scored one.
The Lady Reds will look to bounce back on Saturday, March 17
th when they head up to Mequon, Wisconsin for a showdown with Concordia University Wisconsin. Saturday's game is set for 4:00 p.m.
