CHICAGO, Ill. – The Carthage College Lady Reds cruised past North Park University on Saturday night to stay undefeated in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, defeating the Vikings in a sweep, 3-0.
The win moves the Lady Reds to 14-7 overall and to 4-0 in the CCIW, while North Park falls to 14-6 and 2-2 in the league.
Carthage played one of their best matches in conference to date, hitting .294 with 39 kills and committing just 11 total attack errors, while North Park struggled, hitting -.055 with 28 errors to just 22 kills. The Lady Reds and Vikings each registered a pair of aces, but Carthage won the battle at the net with six blocks to just three for NPU.
Sophomore
Kaila Johanson led the Lady Reds with a match-high ten kills followed by
Shannon Kebisek with nine and
Megan Behrendt with seven.
Ellie LeCount had 33 assists and
Andrea Kozak led all players with five blocks in the middle.
Aiding Kozak defensively, three Lady Reds picked up ten or more digs in the win, as Laura de Roasles had 13 and Johanson and Behrendt each had ten.
The Lady Reds return to action on the road on Wednesday, as Carthage travels to Elmhurst College for a midweek CCIW showdown with the Bluejays. First serve on October 10th is set for 7:00 p.m.
