KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's volleyball team made it a perfect 6-0 to start the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season on Tuesday night, as the Lady Reds topped the Cardinals of North Central College 3-0.
The eighth straight win by the Lady Reds moved them to 16-7 on the season and to 6-0 in the CCIW, while North Central falls to 3-17 and 0-5 in the league.
The Lady Reds dominated with their fifth-best hitting performance of the year, finishing with a .337 attack with 39 kills and just eight errors to North Central's .058. hitting percentage with 18 kills and 13 errors. The Lady Reds also dominated in the serve receive game, as the Lady Reds served up a season-high 15 aces in the win and limited North Central to six.
Megan Behrendt led Carthage with 14 kills with a .423 attack but it was
Andrea Kozak that had the most dominant night, as the Cardinals had no answer for the sophomore right side who hit .800 with a career-high twelve kills.
Ellie LeCount, the reigning back-to-back CCIW Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week, paced the Lady Reds with 28 assists and had a team-high five aces.
Behrendt also led the Lady Reds defensively with 14 digs, while libero Laure de Rosales finished with 11. At the net,
Linda Morton led Carthage with three blocks.
Next up for the Lady Reds, Carthage will head to Elmhurst College for a pair of weekend non-conference matches. Carthage will open with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday at 5:00 p.m. followed by a rematch of last year's NCAA Division III Bloomington Regional championship match, when the Lady Reds take on #1 Calvin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
