KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team welcomed Milwaukee School of Engineering for a non-conference showdown at Art Keller Field on Tuesday night. The Raiders, who won the 2016 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship, were in pursuit of their first victory of the 2017 season.

MSOE strung a pair of goals together after being down 3-0 at halftime, but the Lady Reds held onto a 3-2 victory.

Freshmen
Erin Otto continued to contribute in the offensive zone with one goal and a pair of assists. Freshman
Kelsey Dejno added her third goal of the season while
Maggie Washelesky tacked on her first of the 2017 campaign.

The victory gives Carthage a 2-1, 0-0 CCIW record while the Raiders' winless season continues with an 0-3, 0-0 NACCÂ mark.

Carthage set the tone in the 9
th minute when Otto dished a pass to Washelesky, who finished on her first goal of the season to make the score 1-0. The Lady Reds capitalized on a corner kick in the 12
th minute when
Jacey Kent sailed the ball from the northeast corner of the field. Otto, who was standing to the left of MSOE goalkeeper Mary McFee following Kent's corner kick, fired her second goal of the season to widen the margin to 2-0.
Otto also had a hand in Carthage's third goal when she dished a pass to Dejno in the 20
th minute, who fired a shot to the back of the net to give Carthage a 3-0 cushion.

Despite holding a 3-0 lead, Carthage was in a 6-4 hole in the shots department. It took MSOE four more shots before they converted their first goal of the game. Carley Mitus did the honors in the 49
th minute with her first goal of the season to narrow the Lady Reds' lead to 3-1. The Raiders continued to find the back of the net in the 62
nd minute, thanks to Nora Adkins' second goal of the season to narrow Carthage's gap to 3-2.

The Raiders proceeded to fire six more shots the final 27:00 of play, but three big saves from Lady Reds goalkeeper
Morgan Harris helped Carthage hang onto a 3-2 victory.

Harris registered eight saves on 20 shots in the complete-game goalkeeping victory for the Lady Reds. Raiders goalkeepers Mary McFee, Allison Lessila and Abbey Lorenz combined for five saves.

The Lady Reds will return to action on Thursday, September 7 at UW-La Crosse. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
