Three-Game Week Ahead For Lady Reds

 


KENOSHA, WIS.—A rare, three-game week is upon the Carthage College women's soccer team (1-1, 0-0 CCIW). Milwaukee School of Engineering will invade Art Keller Field on Tuesday, September 5 for a 7:00 p.m. showdown, followed by a road-tilt at UW-La Crosse on Thursday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will conclude their three-game swing in a meeting with St. Norbert College on Saturday, September 9 at Art Keller Field.
 
The Lady Reds opened their 2017 campaign with a 6-1 victory over University of Northwestern (MN) behind a pair of goals from Kelsey Dejno. Despite holding a 14-10 advantage in shots, the Lady Reds couldn't find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to University of Dubuque.
 
Dejno leads all Lady Reds players this season with four points, followed by Erin Otto's three. Maggie Washelesky's 13 shot attempts this season is more than double of any other Carthage player. Carthage goalkeeper Emily Furmanek carries a 2.39 goals against average and a .429 save percentage on two starts this season.
 
ABOUT MILWAUKEE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING (0-2, 0-0 NACC)
 
The Raiders opened their 2017 season with a 4-2 loss to Hope College, followed by a 2-1 defeat to Calvin College. Nora Adkins, Gabby Hoffman, Aly Loepfe and Carley Mitus all carry two points heading into their showdown with the Lady Reds. Mary McFee sports a 3.00 goals against average and a .727 save percentage on two starts this season.
 
Milwaukee School of Engineering, who won the 2016 NACC Regular Season and Tournament Championship, fell to Augsburg College 2-0 in the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament First Round to conclude the season 17-4-1. Among those four losses was a 2-1 decision against Carthage on October 8, 2017.
 
The Lady Reds carry a 4-1 all-time record against Milwaukee School of Engineering. Rolf Zersen is in his 11th season as Raiders head women's soccer coach.
 
ABOUT UW-LA CROSSE (1-0-1, 0-0 WIAC)
 
The Eagles opened their 2017 season with a 4-0 victory over University of Dubuque, and a 2-2 draw against University of St. Thomas (R.V.). The 2016 season saw UW-La Crosse take second place in the WIAC with a 14-5, 5-2 mark, which includes a 3-0 loss to UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Championship Game.
 
Kaitlyn Villars, Maddie Granos and Alex Cording have each logged three points for the Eagles this season. Kennedy Brault, who owns two starts this season, sports a 1.16 goals against average and a .846 save percentage.
 
Carthage also owns a 4-1 all-time record against UW-La Crosse, which includes a 1-0 win at Art Keller Field last season.
 
ABOUT ST. NORBERT COLLEGE (1-1, 0-0 MWC)
 
The Green Knights, a member of the Midwest Conference, opened their 2017 season with a 1-0 victory over Edgewood College and a 6-0 loss to UW-Stevens Point. Monica Stephans scored St. Norbert's lone goal on the season. Ally Magiera, who owns 162:42 of playing time this season, sports a 2.21 goals against average and a .333 save percentage this season.
 
The Green Knights concluded the 2016 season with a 9-8-1 record, which includes a 2-1 loss to Knox College in the Midwest Conference Tournament.
 
Carthage, who own a 5-1-1 all-time mark against St. Norbert, fell to the Green Knights 3-2 in their last meeting on September 12, 2015. Dennis Drate is in his 15th season as St. Norbert College head women's soccer coach.

The Lady Reds will travel to UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday, September 13 for a 6:00 p.m. game before they host Aurora University on Sunday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m.
