CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Carthage College women's volleyball team wrapped-up their weekend in Iowa at the Coe College Invitational on Saturday with a split of the day-two competition, sweeping Coe in three sets before falling to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in five.
For the weekend the Lady Reds finished 2-1 at the invitational and moved to 11-5 on the season.
Carthage 3, Coe 0
In Saturday's opener the Lady Reds dominated on their way to a sweep, taking the three-setter 25-17, 25-14 and 25-19.
As a team the Lady Reds hit .246 in the match, including a fierce .395 in the second set, while the Kohawks hit just .060.
Offensively,
Ellie LeCount led the Lady Reds with 37 assists, spreading the ball around evenly with 12 kills coming from
Megan Behrendt.
For the second match in a row four Carthage players found themselves on double figures in digs as
Shannon Kebisek had 17,
Luci Krenzke had 14,
Mallory Parsons had 12 and Behrendt had 11.
UW-Stevens Point 3, Carthage 2
In their final match of the weekend the Lady Reds dropped a five-set thriller to the Pointers, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11.
Three Lady Reds found themselves in double-figure kills in loss with Behrendt leading Carthage with 18 followed by
Rachael Kisten and Kebisek with 17 and ten respectively.
As a team Carthage hit .189 in the loss, getting edged out by Stevens Point with the Pointers' .215.
Other stats of note for the Lady Reds included LeCount with three aces, Kisten with three blocks and
Luci Krenzke's 33 digs.
The Lady Reds will play another non-conference match before returning to CCIW play, as Carthage will travel to UW-Whitewater on Tuesday, October 3
rd at 7:00 p.m.
