KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds turned in a dominant performance Wednesday night at Tarble Arena, sweeping the Elmhurst College Bluejays, 3-0.
The Lady Reds move to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Bluejays falls to 5-9 and 1-1 in the conference.
Carthage nearly doubled-up Elmhurst in kills with 40-to-20 and added eight aces to the Bluejays one to control the offensive attack. As a team, the Lady Reds hit .265, while limiting Elmhurst to .079.
Individually,
Ellie LeCount had a fantastic night with 30 assists in the three-setter with fellow sophomore
Megan Behrendt leading the way on the receiving end with 14 kills.

Luci Krenzke matched her career-high for the fourth time with four aces in the win and led Carthage with a match-high 15 digs. LeCount was second on the team with ten digs and three aces as well.

Megan Behrendt was tremendous in all phases tonight. She is so dynamic and really was aggressive at the net.

Ellie LeCount ran the offense very well and her serve was so effective. We had some great defense and serving tonight that kept them off balance. We are getting into the really tough portion of our schedule and hopefully we can build on this."
The Lady Reds will return to action on Friday in the first of three games over the weekend at the Coe College Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Carthage will open in a non-conference match with Augustana College at 5:30 p.m. and will face Coe and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday.
