KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team registered a 6-1 victory in a non-conference home-tilt with University of Northwestern (MN.) on Friday evening. The Lady Reds tallied their first season-opening victory since August 30, 2014, when they defeated Centenary College (NJ) 4-0.

Arsenal was received from individuals who've had yet to wear a Carthage uniform prior to today. First-year player
Kelsey Dejno contributed a pair of goals in the contest while
Erin Otto notched one for the Lady Reds.
Taylor Stenmark, who tallied a pair of assists in the match, was effective in the corner kick department as two of her nine attempts resulted in goals.

Talia Jaramillo and
Maddie Kempf also found the back of the net for the first time in their collegiate careers. Joanne Stanfa added one goal for Carthage to round out the scorers.

Carthage outshot the Eagles 26-4 in the contest.

The Lady Reds quickly lit the scoreboard when Jaramillo capitalized on her first collegiate goal at the 2:29 mark of the first quarter to make the score 1-0. Stenmark's corner kick at the 11:30 mark helped Carthage produce their second goal of the contest. The Lady Reds pushed their lead to 2-0 :21 later when Stanfa took a feed from
Danielle Noverini and fired a shot that beat Northwestern (MN.) goalkeeper Samantha Dewey in the 12
th minute.

The Lady Reds got a double dose of first-year success on their third goal when
Anna McHatton assisted on
Erin Otto's goal in the 26
th minute to widen the margin to 3-0.

Northwestern (MN.) capitalized on their first goal of the season off Emily Goeppinger's penalty kick at the 46:58 mark of the game to narrow the score to 3-1.

Dejno, who came off the bench in the 27
th minute, responded with her first and second collegiate goals within :63 apart to push Carthage's cushion to 5-1 in the 57th minute. McHatton dished her second assist of the game to
Maddie Kempf in the 68
th minute, who found the back of the net to make the score 6-1.

Lady Reds goalkeeper
Emily Furmanek registered one save in 60:30 of action, before turning things to
Morgan Harris for the final 29:30. Samantha Dewey tallied four saves in a complete-game effort for the Eagles.
