DECATUR, Ill. & BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carthage College men's tennis team split a pair of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matches on Sunday, falling to Millikin University in the morning, 5-4, before rebounding with a win at Illinois Wesleyan University in the afternoon, 9-0.
 
The split moves the Red Men to 8-10 overall on the season and to 2-1 in the CCIW, while Millikin improves to 10-3 and 2-1 in the CCIW and Illinois Wesleyan remains winless at 0-10 and 0-2 in the conference.
 
Herman Abban and Pawel Jaworski had perfect days for the Red Men as they won both their doubles matches and singles matches against the Big Blue and Titans.  Currently ranked 12th nationally, the doubles duo defeated Jacob Palley and Jacob Hamilton of Millikin, 8-2, to start the day and then defeated Palley and Hamilton in the number-one and number-two singles respectively.  Both won in straight sets. 
 
Lukasz Jaworski rounded out the wins for the Red Men against Millikin with a straight-set win of his own, defeating Emerick Fulton in the number-four singles.
 
In the afternoon, the number-one ranked regional doubles team paced the Red Men to a win with a win in doubles followed by a pair of wins in singles.  After cruising to a 3-0 sweep of the singles competition by the Red Men, Carthage then swept the singles with straight-set wins by #26/#8 Herman Abban, Pawel Jaworski, Lukasz Jaworski, Oscar Irazoque, Matt Curry and Brandon Stassen.
