KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team hosted Augustana College (Ill.) with CCIW Tournament positioning on the line. The Red Men erased a 4-0 deficit late in the second quarter, and ran away with an 8-5 victory to secure at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship.
Luke Seydel paced Carthage's rally with three goals while
Andy Szun contributed two. It was another day at the office for
Andy Meyers, who tallied a 14-of-15 figure from the face-off circle. Meyers took every face-off attempt for the Red Men in the contest. Red Men all-time caused turnover king
Jordyn Williams added five more to this name on Wednesday night.
Billy Lane peppered the Vikings for a career-high 15 shots in the game.
The Red Men out shot Augustana 45-18 in the contest while also holding advantages in clears (10-10, 12-21) and ground balls (30-16).
The victory gives Carthage a 14-3, 5-0 CCIW record while Augustana falls to 7-9, 3-2 CCIW. Carthage will clinch the outright CCIW Regular Season Championship with a win over Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday.
Red Men 8, Augustana 5
The Red Men trailed Augustana 1-0 after the first quarter despite outshooting them 12-7. Seven of Carthage's first-quarter shots were saved by Vikings goalkeeper Jake Ellis, who left the game in the third quarter.
The Vikings stretched that lead to 4-0 at the 1:15 mark of the second quarter, thanks to Sam Daly's man-up tally.
Andy Szun gave Carthage the needed dose of medicine when he fired a shot to the back of the net with 00:01 on the clock to narrow the margin to 4-1 at halftime.
Augustana tallied their final goal of the game with 11:44 left in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 5-1 before Carthage took over. The Red Men out shot Augustana 26-3, and forced eight turnovers from that point forward.
Seydel's three goals paced the Red Men's 7-0 to close the contest.

Ryan Smith registered six saves in the complete-game victory. Augustana goalkeeper Jake Ellis stopped 11 Red Men shots in the first 39:39 of play before he turned things to Jeremiah Heredia, who mustered two saves.
The Red Men will end their 2017 regular season on Saturday, April 29 when they host Milwaukee School of Engineering at 12:00 p.m., and Carroll University (Wis.) at 4:00 p.m.
