KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds won a regionally ranked matchup on Sunday at the Smeds Tennis Center, as the women's tennis team defeated the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, 7-2.
Ranked 17th in the region, the Lady Reds improved to 14-6 on the season with the win over Eagles, who are ranked #16th in the central, as La Crosse fell to 19-4 on the year.
The Lady Reds opened with wins in the number-two doubles by
Kristen Kalinka and
Max Mella, as well as
Eliza Barter and
Natalie Favia in the three-doubles to take a 2-1 lead into the singles competition.
Casey Frommer earned the most notable win of the day with an upset over Bridget Bellissimo, who was ranked #38 nationally, in straight-sets in the number-one singles match. Joining Frommer with wins in the singles were Mella in the twos,
Angelica Emmanouil in the threes,
Paige Moritz in the fours and Barter in the six-singles.
