LISLE, ILL.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team faced Benedictine University in their final road game of the 2017 regular season. The Red Men capitalized on an 11-6 victory over the Eagles to push their win streak to five games.

Billy Lane and
Andy Szun each tallied four goals for the Red Men offense, while Andrew Krom contributed two. Lane also registered a career-high 14 shots in the contest.

Andy Meyers registered a 17-for-20 figure from the face off circle for Carthage while
Jordyn Williams commanded the defense with three caused turnovers. Meyers (11) and Williams (7) also paced the ground ball efforts for Carthage.

The victory gives Carthage a 13-3, 4-0 CCIW record while Benedictine falls to 5-10, 3-3 MLC.

The Eagles registered their only lead of the game when their leading scorer Corbin Gett tallied a goal at the 13:39 mark of the first quarter to make the score 1-0. Carthage responded with a 12-4 shots advantage for the remainder of the first quarter en route to a 5-1 lead. Szun notched three out of Carthage's five goals in the opening frame.

Lane tallied his second goal of the game with 13:48 left in the second quarter to push Carthage's lead to 6-1. The Eagles strung three goals over the next six minutes to narrow their deficit to 6-4 with 5:54 left in the second quarter before a goal from each Lane and Szun gave Carthage an 8-4 lead at halftime.

The Red Men edged Benedictine 2-1 in the third quarter to widen their lead to 10-5 heading into the final frame. The Eagles held a 10-6 shots advantage in the fourth quarter, but it only resulted in one goal as Carthage held onto an 11-6 victory.

Ryan Smith registered 12 saves in the complete-game victory for the Red Men. Carthage will return to action on Wednesday, April 26 when they host Augustana College (Ill.) at 7:00 p.m.
