KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's lacrosse team dropped their second-straight game on Wednesday at Art Keller Field, falling to the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans, 14-5.

The loss drops the Lady Reds to 9-5 on the season and 2-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Titans improved to 9-5 and 2-1 in the conference.

Carthage and Wesleyan exchanged goals in the opening ten minutes to a 1-1 game but the Titans quickly took control with a 5-0 run over the final 18:05 of the first half to take a 6-1 halftime lead.Â

IWU extended it to a 7-0 run with the first two goals of the second half to put the Lady Reds down 8-1 out of the break.

A 3-2 run aided by goals by
Mackenzie Day,
Kendell Santin and
Rachel Mussell cut the deficit to six at 10-4, but a 4-1 run to close the game gave the Titans the lopsided win.

Santin finished with two goals to lead the Lady Reds and
Maddie Griffin scored once to round out the scoring.

Illinois Wesleyan controlled most of the statistical categories in the Lady Reds defeat, including advantages in shot, 32-16, shots on goal, 25-11, ground balls, 21-16, and draws controls, 13-8.Â

The Lady Reds will look to snap their two-game skid on Saturday as Carthage travels to the University of Dubuque for a CCIW matchup at 1:00 p.m.
