WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday evening as the Lady Reds defeated Carroll University, 19-3, at Schneider Stadium.

The win moves the Lady Reds 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and 9-3 overall, while the Pioneers fall to 0-2 in the CCIW and 2-11 overall.

Goals by
Greigh Hoeft and
Rachel Mussell in the first minute quickly gave the Lady Reds a 2-0 lead just 51-seconds into the game.  Hoeft finished with two, Mussell finished with three and
Nicole Bowman led all players with five in the win. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Reds we Bryanna Barerra with a hat trick, and Maddie Grffin,
Maddie Palmerson and
Mackenzie Day with two each.

The story of the game however was
Maddie Griffin, who assisted on eight of the Lady Reds goals to set a new Carthage College single-game record. Griffin broke the previous record of six assists, which was held by current Carthage College head coach,
Lauren Hein. Formerly, Lauren Chatham.

Carthage would build on that and take a 13-1 lead into the halftime break as the Pioneers scored in the final seconds of the first half to get on the board.

Carthage played a much more conservative second half, while still outscoring Carroll in the half, 6-2, to head home with the important 19-3 conference win.

As a team the Lady Reds earned a 37-10 advantage in shots in the game courtesy of dominating the Pioneers in draws, winning 18 of 23 in the match.

Maggie Allen earned the win for the Lady Reds in the net as she recorded four saves in the game.

Carthage returns to action on Saturday, April 15
th at 3:00 p.m. when the Lady Reds host two-time defending CCIW Champion, Augustana College at Art Keller Field.
