WHEATON, Ill. – The Carthage College baseball team saw their four-game College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin winning streak come to an end on Tuesday as the Red Men dropped an extra inning affair to Wheaton College, 6-5 in ten innings.
The loss drops the Red Men to 12-10 on the season and 5-4 in the CCIW, while Wheaton improves to 16-10 and 6-4 in the conference.
After a shaky start that saw starter
Ian Maxeiner give up two runs in the bottom of the first, the junior pitcher settled in and went 5.2 innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits before being lifted with the Red Men trailing 4-3.

Jared Knoespel triple scored Drew Korosin and later a
Reed Hero sac fly brought in Knoespel.
Knoespel led the Red Men on the day with four hits in his six at bats as the Red Men tallied 15 hits as a team but stranded 12 runners on the night.
Carthage would take their first lead of the day in the top of the sixth as
Zach Wade hit a solo homerun, his first of the season, to put the Red Men up 3-2.
The lead would be short-lived however as the Thunder responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead.
Carthage swung the score back in their favor in the seventh with Hero's second RBI on a single and a
Jordan Wiegold RBI courtesy of a Wheaton fielding error.
