KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team hosted University of Northwestern (MN) at Art Keller Field on Saturday afternoon. The Red Men registered a 15-1 victory over a first-year Eagles program that came off a 9-8 loss to Carroll University on February 11.
"It was great to give another first-year program an opportunity to play someone a little more established," said Carthage head men's lacrosse coach
David Neff following the victory. "I think the guys were just excited to be home after four games, and was a great opportunity for those who haven't played a lot to get out there and get some reps."
Luke Seydel and
Connor Stachnik each tallied a hat trick for the Red Men while
Andy Szun and
Ethan Flight each contributed two goals. Carthage held an advantage in shots (34-13) and ground balls (46-19).
Andy Meyers converted on 13-of-13 faceoffs.
The Red Men improve to 4-1, 0-0 CCIW while Northwestern (MN) falls to 0-2.

The Red Men allowed one shot the entire first half en route to a 9-0 cushion at halftime. That 9-0 run was capped by
Tanner Jones, who tallied his first collegiate goal with 0:27 remaining in the second quarter to make the score 9-0.
Third-quarter goals from Stachnik (2), Seydel and
Griffin Cleary pushed Carthage's lead to 13-0 heading into the final frame. Cleary's tally was the first of his career. Seydel and Szun each netted a goal to widen Carthage's lead to 15-0 with 8:04 left in the game before Northwestern spoiled the shutout.
Stephen Kellers tallied the Eagles' lone goal of the contest with 2:12 remaining in the fourth quarter to make the score 15-1.
Goalkeepers
Ryan Smith,
Cameron Laird and
Jonah Lackey teamed up to make seven saves for the Red Men.
Carthage will continue their three-game home stand on Tuesday, March 7 against Concordia (Wis.). Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
