HANOVER, IND.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team faced non-conference foe Hanover College in the back end of a two-game road stand on Wednesday evening. The Red Men were looking to reverse their fortunes from a 16-4 loss to Aurora on March 18, and nearly flipped the score around as they defeated Hanover 15-3.

Andy Szun tallied a season-high five goals and three assists for eight points in the contest while
Ben Morgan added a hat trick.
Ethan Flight's two goals in the contest rounded out the Red Men multiple goal scorers. A penalty-laden game saw Carthage take seven infractions for a total of 7:00 while the Panthers had eight for 6:30.

The Red Men held advantages in shots (39-26), shots on goal (29-11) and ground balls (33-29).

The victory gives Carthage a 7-2, 1-0 CCIW record while Hanover falls to 1-7, 0-1 ORLC.

The Red Men took a 4-0 cushion following the first quarter, thanks to a six-for-six clear percentage in the frame. That proved to be the ignition Hanover needed as Chad Szczublewski notched a goal with 14:31 left in the second quarter to narrow the deficit to 4-1.

That's as close the Panthers got as Szun generated an 8-1 Carthage run for the remainder of the second quarter with three goals and one assist to widen their advantage to 12-2.

The second half saw Carthage commit five penalties. Hanover's Joseph DeLeo capitalized on one of them when he tallied a man-up goal with 12:32 left in the third quarter to make the score 12-3.

That was Hanover's final tally of the game as goals from Flight, Morgan and Szun widened the score to 15-3.
