CCIW Announces Jack Swartz Fall Academic All-Conference Recipients

 

CCIW RELEASE

NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced their 2016 Fall Academic All-Conference/Jack Swartz recipients on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Carthage 2016 Fall Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference:
 
Male - Michael Von Borstel  (Men's Cross Country)
Female – Abigail McGowan (Women's Volleyball)
 
This marks the third-consecutive season a Red Men cross country athlete earned CCIW Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference. It's also Von Borstel's second (2014) CCIW Jack Swartz accolade.  Twelve Carthage men's cross country athletes have claimed the award.
 
McGowan is the first Lady Reds volleyball player to land CCIW Jack Swartz All-Conference since 2014 when Karen Chin earned the distinction. The business major was named 2016 COSIDA Women's Volleyball Academic All-District. McGowan is the sixth Carthage women's volleyball player to land Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference.
 
In addition, 110 Carthage student-athletes earned 2016 CCIW Fall Academic All-Conference.

Each member school in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin will select student-athletes from each of the three sport seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.30 or above and must have lettered in their respective sport for that season.
