Red Men Continue To Roll In MCVL With Sweep Of Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team completed a season sweep of Greenville College on Friday night in southern Illinois, as the Red Men defeated the Panthers, 3-0.
 
For the Red Men, it is their 11th straight win moving them to 13-1 overall on the season and 11-0 in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League.  Greenville falls to 5-13 and 1-12 in the MCVL.
 
Carthage took the match winning, 25-23, 25-13, 25-17, while hitting .444 as a team to Greenville's .195.  The Red Men committed just 7 attack errors and forced the Panthers to struggle with 18 errors.
 
Griffin Shields had his best match of the season with a team-high 14 kills on 18 attempts with zero errors to hit .778 in the three-setter. 
 
Matt Reinsel had 37 assists in the match, finding Zach Lillig for seven kills, Braeden Waumans for six, and Kai Cromwell and Max Bongratz for five each to lead the Red Men.
 
The Red Men also dominated the Panthers on the defensive side of the net, earning a 10-2 advantage in blocks in the match, led by Lillig's five. 
 
Cody Bolan also turned in a match-high ten digs in the win to give him his ninth ten-plus dig match of the season.
 
Carthage returns to action tomorrow from St. Louis, Missouri as the Red Men look to complete another season sweep, this time of Fontbonne University at 2:00 p.m.
