KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team remained perfect in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League on Friday night as the Red Men swept Greenville College, 3-0 [25-19, 25-17, 25-22].
The win moves the Red Men to 6-1 on the year and 5-0 in the MCVL, while the Panthers fall to 1-8 in the league and 4-9 overall.
As a team the Red Men hit .385 for the match and out hit the Panthers in each set .375 to .250, .360 to .083 and .412 to .161 respectively.
Kai Cromwell hit .500 to lead the Red Men's hitting attack and tallied 11 kills.
Griffin Shields tied for a match-high 12 kills in the three-setter and
Marc Hansen added 11 kills as well to round out the Carthage attack.
Max Bongratz recorded all four aces for the Red Men including a pair of back-to-back aces in the first set to swing momentum in their favor to take the opener.
Sophomore setter
Matt Reinsel put up 37 assists in his first match back from injury and matched
Zach Lillig with five blocks to lead the Red Men. The Red Men recorded their second highest block total of the season with eight on the night.
Cody Bolan turned in his fourth ten-dig performance of the season to lead all players with ten on the night. Bongratz added six and Hansen and Shields had four apiece.
The Red Men will make a quick turnaround and return to action on Saturday at Tarble at 3:00 p.m. with another MCVL match as Carthage hosts Fontbonne University as part of their alumni weekend festivities.
