Men's Volleyball Sweeps Fontbonne Saturday, 3-0

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball completed a weekend sweep of a pair of MCVL teams on Saturday as the Red Men downed the Fontbonne University Griffins in three sets at Tarble Arena.

The win sends the Red Men to 6-0 in the conference on the season and 7-1 overall, while Fontbonne falls to 8-6 and 4-5 in the league.

"Happy with how we played today overall," said head coach L.J. Marx following the win.  "I liked how we came out today in the first set on the second half of a back-to-back pair of games. We came out very strong in the first set to set the tone but thought we lost focus for a few moments in the third so there are still things we need to improve upon moving forward this season. Happy with the pair of wins this weekend though."

Marc Hansen tied for the Red Men's season-high with 13 kills on the day behind 22 attacks and Kai Cromwell and Griffin Shields adding 11 and 10 kills respectively.  Max Bongratz started the match with kills on his first seven attacks to lead the Red Men to a .358 hitting day, while limiting the Griffins to .058 in the three setter.  Bongratz finished with a the Red Men's top hitting percentage on the day, .667.

Libero Cody Bolan set a new season-high with 17 digs in the match to lead Carthage to 44 digs total.

Matt Reinsel also added a season-high for the Red Men in three sets with 40 of Carthage's 46 assists.

Carthage goes on the road next weekend for a single weekend match at Lakeland University.  Originally scheduled for 3:00 p.m., the match has been pushed back to 7:00 p.m. to accommodate a possible facility conflict.
