Lady Reds Sweep Pioneers Friday Night, 3-0

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds stayed unbeaten in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Friday night as the women's volleyball team swept rival Carroll University, 3-0, at Tarble Arena.
 
The win keeps the Lady Reds in a tie at the top of the CCIW at 3-0 and 13-5 overall, while Carroll falls to 8-13 and 0-4 in the conference.
 
Carthage jumped on Carroll early with a pair of dominant wins in the first and second sets behind .433 and .375 hitting performances to take the 25-9, 25-13 wins.  Carroll made a contest of the third set, forcing the Lady Reds into extra points, but Carthage prevailed in the third, 30-28, for the sweep.
 
For the match Carthage hit .339 to Carroll's .098.
 
Megan Fallert was nearly unstoppable in the middle for Carthage, collecting 15 kills on 23 attempts to lead all players with a .609 attack percentage.  Megan Behrendt and Shannon Kebisek also tallied double-digit kills with 13 and 11 respectively.
 
Friday was a historic night for libero Luci Kreznke, who with her game-high 18 digs became the second Lady Reds player ever to reach 2,000 digs.
 
Next up for the Lady Reds, Carthage will head to Bloomington, Illinois for a key CCIW match at Illinois Wesleyan University, October 13 at 6:00 p.m.
