BLOOMINGTON, Ill – The Carthage College women's volleyball team remained perfect in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Friday with a four set win over the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University, 3-1.
The win moves Carthage to 14-5 overall and 4-0 in the CCIW, while Illinois Wesleyan falls to 14-6 and 4-2 in the CCIW. At 4-0, the Lady Reds are tied for first in the league with the only other undefeated team in the league, Millikin University.
Leading 1-0 in the match, the key moment took place in the second set with the Lady Reds trailing 24-21. Behind the serve of
Megan Behrendt, the Lady Reds rattled off five straight points and eventually took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 26-24 win.
As a team, the Lady Reds hit .205 in the match and recorded six aces to IWU's one in the win.
Ellie LeCount moved the ball around well for Carthage, setting up Behrendt for a match-high 18 kills, tying her career high. Also recording double digit kills were
Rachael Kisten and
Megan Fallert with 15 and ten respectively.
Middle blocker
Katie Laio had a hand in seven of the Lady Reds eight blocks to set a new career high, while
Luci Krenzke edged teammate
Mallory Parsons with 28 digs to Parson's 27.
The Lady Reds will return to action on Saturday with an afternoon trip to North Park University at 1:00 p.m.
