WAUKESHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team opened their final week of the 2017 regular season at Carroll University (Wis.) on Wednesday evening. The Lady Reds need a perfect 2-0 week to stay in the running for the 2017 CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament. Every major statistical category was in Carthage's favor, but it didn't result in a victory as they settled for a 1-1 tie against the Pioneers. The tie keeps Carthage in sole possession of seventh place in the CCIW.

The Lady Reds had the upper-hand in shots (20-4), shots on goal (11-2) and corner kicks (5-4). Pioneers goalkeeper Christina O'Block was there to turn away 10 of Carthage's shots.
Maggie Washelesky, who notched the Lady Reds' lone goal in the 59
th minute, paced the squad with four shots on goal.
Joanne Stanfa chipped in four shots for the Lady Reds, two of them being on goal. Lady Reds goalkeeper
Emily Furmanek recorded one save in the contest.

Carthage's first tie of the season sends them to 9-7-1, 2-4-1 CCIW while the Pioneers move to 11-3-3, 3-1-3 CCIW.

Lady Reds 1, Carroll (Wis.) 1

Big plays on defense helped Carthage hold the Pioneers to one shot in the first half, a header from Sabrina Georgeff in the fifth minute. The Lady Reds generated seven shots of their own in the opening 45:00, but went into intermission deadlocked 0-0.

Carroll lit the scoreboard in the 46
th minute, thanks to Georgeff's cross pass that trickled off a Lady Reds defender past Furmanek to make the score 1-0.

Maggie Washelesky broke out of her month-long scoring drought in the 60
th minute. She drove the ball 20 yards in front of Pioneer goalkeeper O'Block, where she converted a goal that knotted the game 1-1. The Lady Reds proceeded to outshoot Carroll (Wis.) 5-1 from that point to the end of regulation.

The Lady Reds dominated the two overtime periods with a 4-1 advantage in shots. Their best scoring opportunities occurred in the 91
st minute when
Anna McHatton's shot resulted in a diving save from O'Block.
Kelsey Dejno nearly tallied a goal in the 108
