Lady Reds Clinch Postseason Berth On Senior Night

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's volleyball team punched their ticket into the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night, as the Lady Reds dominated the North Central College Cardinals at Tarble Arena on Senior Night, 3-0.

The sweep moves the Lady Reds to 18-8 and 5-2 in the CCIW, while North Central falls to 12-6 and 3-4 in the conference.

The Carthage senior class of Megan Fallert, Rachael Kisten, Luci Krenzke and Mallory Parsons shined in their final home match at Tarble.

On the offensive side, Kisten hit .417 to lead the Lady Reds and recorded 12 kills, while middle blocker Megan Fallert finished second with a .375 attack percentage and added six kills without committing an error.

Defensively, Luci Krenzke once again led the Lady Reds with 19 kills followed by Parsons with 12.

Sophomore outside hitter Megan Behrendt led all players with 14 kills and Ellie LeCount had a match-high 32 assists.

After a slow start, trailing 9-4 in the first, the Lady Reds went on a 17-0 run to grab control of the first set and eventually the match behind the serve of Shannon Kebisek, who served three aces during the streak.  The Cardinals would get things closer in the second and third sets but the Lady Reds hit .260 in the win to the Cardinals .137 to take the match in a sweep [25-15, 25-21, 25-23].

A win by Millikin University on Tuesday means that the Lady Reds will travel to Decatur, Illinois for the CCIW Tournament.  Seeds are not yet decided but the field will include the Lady Reds, Big Blue, Elmhurst College Bluejays and Illinois Wesleyan University Titans.  The CCIW Tournament will take place November 3rd and 4th.

Next up for the Lady Reds, Carthage will head to Benedictine University for a four-game tournament in which the Lady Reds will face Benedictine and Dominican University on Friday, and MSOE and #1 Wittenberg University on Saturday.
