LISLE, Ill. - The Carthage College women's volleyball team turned in two very impressive performances Friday night to open their weekend at the Benedictine University Tournament, defeating Benedictine and Dominican University in a pair of sweeps.
For Carthage, the pair of wins moves the Lady Reds to 20-8 on the season, while Benedictine falls to 4-22 and Dominican to 16-12.
Carthage 3, Benedictine 0
The Lady Reds turned in another dominant three-set sweep to open the day, blowing away the Eagles in their third-best hitting match of the season with a .327 team attack, while Benedictine hit just .126 [25-18, 25-15, 25-15]. Â
Ellie LeCount had 36 assists in the win and right side hitter
Rachael Kisten led the Lady Reds with 12 kills followed by
Megan Behrendt with ten.
Kisten was also second on the team in blocks with three, trailing only
Katie Laio who registered a match-high four blocks. Â Also leading the Lady Reds defensively,
Shannon Kebisek was one-of-three Carthage players to register ten or more digs against the Eagles, with Kebisek picking up 13. Â Behind Kebisek,
Luci Krenzke had 12 digs and Behrendt had ten.
Carthage 3, Dominican 0
The Lady Reds followed up their opening win with a sweep in the final match of the night, defeating the Stars with another dominant performance, once again hitting .327 in the win [25-17, 25-12, 25-18].
LeCount followed her strong performance from the first match with 45 assists in the second, tying for the most she has recorded in a three-set win.
The Lady Reds dominated the service line tallying seven aces with two coming from Kebisek, LeCount and Parsons each.
Kebisek also led the Lady Reds with 14 kills in the win, while Krenzke had 14 digs to lead all players.
The Lady Reds will wrap up their 2017 regular season on Tuesday with their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin finale at Wheaton College at 7:00 p.m. Â
