OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Carthage College women's volleyball team finished out a strong weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Women's Volleyball Invitational on Saturday with a pair of wins that included a three setter over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and #9 the University of Northwestern (Minn.).
The two wins move the Red Men to 18-6 overall in 2017, while UWSP finishes the weekend at 23-8 and Northwestern finishes at 27-6.
Carthage 3, UW-Stevens Point 0
Carthage jumped on the Pointers and never looked back, as the Lady Reds hit .359 as a team, including a pair of .400 or better sets to take the 2-0 lead before completing the sweep in extra points [25-20, 25-13, 28-26].
Ellie LeCount once again dished out 30-plus assists in a sweep victory, Saturday recording 43 in the win. Â The second most in a three-setter by LeCount this season. Â LeCount added two of the team's four aces from the service line.
Megan Behrendt and
Shannon Kebisek each recorded 15 kills to lead the Lady Reds, while Behrendt's 17 digs edged out teammate
Luci Krenzke with 16.
Carthage 3, #9 Northwestern (MN) 2
In the final match of the weekend, the Lady Reds earned their best win of the season to date, with an upset of #9 Northwestern in a match that went the distance, despite Carthage taking the first two sets convincingly. Â After dropping the third and fourth sets, the Lady Reds rebounded to edge Northwestern in the fifth for the win [25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 24-26, 16-14].
In the win, the Lady Reds recorded a season-high 14 service aces with five coming from
Mallory Parsons, four from LeCount, two from Fallert and Krenzke and one from Behrendt.
LeCount added her second most assists on the season with 51 in the five-setter, with Behrendt and
Rachael Kisten leading the way in kills with 18 and 16 respectively.
Following up on her strong Friday,
Katie Laio recorded six blocks to lead the Lady Reds, followed by Behrendt and Kisten with five blocks each.
The Lady Reds will return to action on Tuesday at tarble Arena for their final home match of 2017, as Carthage hosts North Central College at 7:00 p.m. Â Tuesday match will be the final home match for the Class of 2018 members,

Luci Krenzke and
Mallory Parsons, all of whom will be honored that evening.
