CHICAGO—The Carthage College women's soccer team invaded the Holmgren Athletic Complex for their contest at North Park University on Wednesday evening. The fresh legs from a seven-day hiatus proved beneficial for the Lady Reds in their 3-0 victory over the Vikings.
Â
Wednesday's result gave Carthage their first CCIW victory of the season, and ended a two-game losing skid. The Lady Reds, who held a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal in their 5-1 loss to Wheaton last week, reversed their fortunes and converted on three of seven shots on target.
Danielle Noverini registered a pair of goals for the Carthage offense, while
Taylor Stenmark tacked on her first career goal.
Â
The Lady Reds registered a 13-11 shots advantage over North Park. Goalkeeper
Emily Furmanek turned away seven shots in a complete-game effort for Carthage.
Â
The victory improves Carthage's record to 8-5, 1-2 CCIW while North Park falls to 6-7-1.

Lady Reds 3, North Park 0
Â
Danielle Noverini wasted no time lighting the scoreboard for Carthage. She gained possession of the ball in a wide-open field 15 yards to North Park goalkeeper Sydney Martinez's left, where she fired a shot to give Carthage a 1-0 lead 0:42 into the game.
Â
The 12
th minute saw Carthage convert on their third shot of the contest. The play began with
Taylor Stenmark's corner kick that found
Anna McHatton, who stood 20 yards away. She dished the ball back to Stenmark, who let go a shot from 20 yards out on the right side that beat Martinez to make the score 2-0.
Â
From that point until halftime, North Park generated a 10-1 edge in shots. Furmanek stopped seven of them for Carthage to keep the score 2-0 at intermission.
Â
The Lady Reds found their arsenal again as they outshot North Park 8-1 in the second half. Noverini fired one of them past Martinez in the 69
th minute to push Carthage's advantage to 3-0.
Â
The Lady Reds will look to even their CCIW record on Saturday, October 14 at Millikin Univeristy. Â Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
