KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team will open the home portion of their 2016 schedule on Friday, September 9 against the University of Dubuque Spartans. Following their home tilt with the Spartans, the Lady Reds will hit the road to #10 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday, September 11.

The Lady Reds (1-1-0, 0-0-0 CCIW) opened their season with a 4-0 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on September 1, followed by a 4-0 victory over Lawrence University on September 2.
Lauren Szumski paced the Lady Reds with a goal and an assist in Carthage's victory over the Vikings.

Freshman
Emily Furmanek got the nod in net on both occasions for the Lady Reds. She owns a 2.00 goals against average in 180 minutes of work.

The Spartans capitalized on their first victory of the season in a 3-1 decision over in-state foe Cornell College. The University of Dubuque opened their season with losses to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members UW-Oshkosh (0-1) and UW-La Crosse (1-4).

Shelby Nicholson and Lexus Rose pace the Spartan scoring attack with a goal each. Paige Dykstra has started all three of Dubuque's games in net this season and owns a 1.76 goals against average, and a .786 save percentage.

The Spartans' head coach is Jason Berna while Viktor Bergstrand and Alexandra Watkins are the assistant coaches.

The Warhawks, currently 1-1-0 overall, will have contests against Concordia University (Wis.) and Brooklyn College prior to their matchup with the Lady Reds on Sunday. UW-Whitewater is currently ranked #10 on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The 2015 season saw the Warhawks claim a WIAC Tournament Championship, which secured them an automatic bid into the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Washington University (Mo.) spoiled UW-Whitewater's 2015 NCAA Tournament run with a 1-0 decision in the quarterfinals.

Brianna Reid leads the Warhawk scoring attack with two goals for four points. Sara Klimisch and Nina Yonan each own a start in net on their resume this season. Klimisch tallied 10 saves in a 1-0 UW-Whitewater victory over Capital University on September 1.
