AFA RELEASE
BINGHAMTON, N.Y.—Former Carthage College football player Adam Walker was among 16 inductees into the American Football Association Semi-Pro Hall of Fame on Friday, July 1.
Â
Walker lettered for the Red Men football team during the 1981, 1983 and 1984 seasons as a quarterback. The 1983 season saw him earn offensive team MVP.
Â
Walker competed in a pair of games for the Minnesota Vikings during the 1987 season. Following his brief NFL stint, Walker turned to semi-pro football with the Racine Raiders from 1986-91. He also spent time with the Milwaukee Express/Flame in 1992-93.
Â
It was semi-pro football where Walker made the transition from quarterback to running back. The switch did wonders for Walker, who pulled down all-league honors in his first season. He went on to receive the award six more times in his career. Walker earned league MVP one time, which helped cement his hall of fame bid.
Â
The former Carthage great turned to coaching following his playing days. Walker spent time at Milwaukee's North High School, and Vincent High School before returning to Carthage as the defensive backs coach. Since the 2006 season, Walker has been on the Concordia University (Wis.) football coaching staff. He is currently the defensive coordinator for the Falcon football program. Walker was also the head men's and women's track & field coach at Concordia University (Wis.) from 2006-10.
