KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team's forfeit-victory over Carroll University on April 16 snapped a five-game losing skid. The Red Men's last victory occurred in a 15-7 decision over Hanover College on March 23. Cool, rainy conditions highlighted Carthage's contest with Elmhurst College at Art Keller Field on Wednesday night.

The Bluejays entered their meeting with the Red Men on a three-game skid that includes an 18-11 loss to Albion College on April 5, and a 11-10 OT defeat to CCIW foe Illinois Wesleyan on April 16. The Red Men kept that trend going with a 10-7 victory over Elmhurst College on Wednesday night.

The Red Men improve to 7-8, 3-0 CCIW while Elmhurst College falls to 4-9, 0-2 CCIW.

The Red Men and Bluejays were tick-for-tack in the first half. Elmhurst set the tone out of the gates when they won the opening faceoff and kept possession until Jackson Mandli's goal at the 13:22 mark of the first quarter to make the score 1-0.

Luke Seydel put the Red Men on the board for the first time with 11:16 left in the opening frame to tie the game 1-1. The Bluejays capitalized on a Red Men turnover at the 6:20 mark of the first quarter. This set up a Matt-Westhaver goal at the 6:07 mark of the opening quarter to give the Bluejays a 2-1 lead.

The Red Men responded with the lead and eventually stretched it to 4-2 with 11:09 remaining in the first half. This fueled Elmhurst as they responded with three goals en route to a 5-4 advantage, which happened to be their final lead of the game.

Andrew Krom helped regain momentum for the Red Men with a goal at the 8:30 mark of the third quarter to tie the game 5-5.
Billy Lane gave Carthage the lead for good when he registered his 11
th goal of the season to make the score 6-5 with 7:27 left in the third quarter.

The Red Men's first two clear attempts of the fourth quarter resulted in goals.
Dylan Harris and
Andy Szun each tallied a goal to stretch the Carthage lead to 8-5 with 10:38 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The final 10 minutes of the game was like a game of chess as each team traded goals, leaving the Red Men with a 10-7 victory.

Carthage was the victim of all four penalties called in the contest. Harris led the Red Men scoring with three goals and an assist for four points in the game.
Ryan Smith got the start in goal and tallied 15 saves in a winning-effort.

The Red Men will return to action on Saturday, April 23 at Illinois Wesleyan University. The Titans (10-3, 2-0 CCIW) and Carthage both sit a top the CCIW standings. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
