Red Men Volleyball and MSOE battle for first place in the MCVL on Thursday

KENOSHA, Wis. – Following a weekend with two 3-0 sweeps of their opponents, the Carthage College men's volleyball team (22-1, 10-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Conference) will return to the court with a home match at Tarble Arena against the Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (15-6, 10-0 MCVL). The two teams will face off on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. The Red Men earned the No. 3 ranking for the seventh week in a row in the March 22 AVCA Men's Division III Top 15 Poll. The Raiders are ranked 14th in the poll.

The Red Men return to the court this weekend following a 3-0 sweep of Marian University (Wis.) on Friday, March 18 and another 3-0 sweep of Lakeland College on Saturday, March 19. Carthage is currently ranked first statistically in the nation for blocks per set with an average of 2.82 blocks/set. The Red Men also lead the nation in win/loss percentage with a win percentage of 0.957. Carthage leads the MCVL is currently ranked eighth in the nation and leads the MCVL in hitting percentage with a percentage of 0.288. J.P. Tulacka is ranked second in all of Division III and first in the MCVL for blocks per set with an average of 1.41 blocks/set. Zach Lillig accompanies Tulacka in blocks per set with a national ranking of No. 7 and an MCVL ranking of No. 2 with an average of 1.11 blocks/set. Griffin Shields is ranked fourth in NCAA Division III and first in the MCVL for points per set with a 4.86 points/set average. Shields is also ranked fifth in the nation and fifth in the MCVL in kills per set with an average of 3.90 kills/set. Matt Reinsel earns the No. 10 ranking nationally and the second spot in the MCVL for assists per set with an average of 10.21 assists/set.

The Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering will hit the road to take on the Red Men on Thursday. The Raiders won 3-1 over Lakeland on Friday, March 18 and 3-0 over Marian (Wis.) on Saturday, March 19. Scott Boyk leads MSOE in kills with a collective total of 213 kills and an average of 3.74 kills/set. Ben Clarke leads the team in blocking with 51 total blocks and an average of 1.09 blocks/set. The Raiders are coached by Shane Reid.
 
 
With both teams sporting a 10-0 conference record, the winner of this match will break the tie for first-place in the MCVL and will take over the first place position in the team rankings.
