GRINNELL, Iowa – Carthage College Lady Reds' thrower Mia Bennett finished 15th in the nation after completing her day one competition at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Grinnell College.
 
Bennett, making her Indoor Championships debut, finished with her best throw on her second attempt going 16.03 meters [52-07.25 feet].  Unfortunately for Bennett, her first and third throws resulted in fouls to hinder her performance. 
 
The 2016 CCIW Indoor Champion and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Midwest Region honoree qualified for nationals after throwing a season best at the conference championships of 17.47 meters to put her tenth in the country.
 
Teammate Morgan Young steps into the circle Saturday for the Lady Reds, as the 2016 CCIW shot put champion will compete at 1:30 PM at Grinnell.
