Red Men Volleyball hosts NYU and Stevenson on Saturday

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team (18-1, 8-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League), ranked No. 3 in the March 8th AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Poll, returns to Tarble Arena on Saturday, March 12th to play host to No. 15 New York University (9-8) and No. 8 Stevenson University (17-5).

The Red Men return to play this weekend following a 3-2 win over No. 7 Dominican University on Thursday, March 3rd and a 3-0 sweep of Benedictine University on Saturday, March 5th. Carthage currently leads the MCVL with a record of 8-0. The Red Men currently lead all of NCAA Division III in blocks per set with an average of 2.70 blocks/set and in match win percentage with a percentage of 0.947. Carthage is also ranked seventh nationally and first in the MCVL in hitting percentage at 0.299. Individually, J.P. Tulacka is ranked second in the nation and first in the MCVL for blocks per set with an average of 1.30 blocks/set. Griffin Shields is ranked third nationally and first in the MCVL in points per set with 4.72 points/set. Shields is also ranked seventh in NCAA Division III and second in the MCVL for kills per set with an average of 3.75 kills/set. On March 9th, J.P. Tulacka was named MCVL Defensive Player of the Week and Zach Lillig was named MCVL Offensive Player of the Week.

The Bobcats hit the court this weekend following a 3-1 win over Penn St.Behrend and a 1-3 loss to SUNY New Paltz on March 6th. The Bobcats also earned a 3-0 sweep of York College (NY) on March 9th. Nick Benson currently leads the Bobcats in kills and kills per set with 168 total kills and an average of 3.06 kills/set. Benson has also recorded 24 service aces on the season. Chase Corbett currently leads in blocking with 55 total blocks and an average of 0.92 blocks/set. NYU is coached by Jose Pina.
 
 
Stevenson University Mustangs

The Mustangs of Stevenson University enter competition this weekend following two 3-1 wins over Mount St. Joseph and Wittenberg on Thursday, March 10th. Landon Shorts currently leads the Mustangs in kills with 221 total kills and an average of 3.30 kills/set. Shorts has also collected 29 service aces this season. Kyle Pottieger has completed a total of 79 blocks and averages 1.16 blocks/set.  The Mustangs are coached by Steve Grossnickle.
