Red Men Volleyball sweeps Olivet 3-0, moves to 2-0 in MCVL play

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Carthage College men's volleyball team (9-1, 2-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League) took to the court for the third-straight day as they took on the Comets of Olivet College (1-4, 0-2 MCVL) at Tarble Arena on Saturday, February 6th. The Red Men earned the No. 6 ranking in the February 2nd AVCA Coaches Top 15 Poll.

The Red Men easily dominated the Comets as errors plagued the Comets from early on in the first set. With Will Craft serving, the Red Men made a seven-point run to make the score 7-0 to start the set. One point later with J.P. Tulacka at the helm the Red Men made an 11-point run to make the score 18-1. The Red Men would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the set and would win 25-3.

Even with a quick lineup change to work more of the roster for the Red Men, the Comets were still unable to take control at any for the remainder of the match as Carthage would win sets two and three 25-16 and 25-12. The 3-0 sweep (25-3, 25-16, 25-12) would make it the Red Men's sixth sweep in as many games.

As a team, the Red Men collected 38 kills, 12 service aces, five blocks, 31 assists, 30 digs, and hit .288. Evan Walsh led the Red Men in kills, followed by Griffin Shields with nine and Scotty Adamczyk with four, respectively. J.P. Tulacka and Max Bongratz each recorded four service aces while Shields and Ryan Paull each earned two blocks apiece. Tyler Saieg made 13 assists while Will Craft and Tony Allen collected six digs each.

The Red Men will travel to Greenville, Ill. on Friday, February 12th to take on MCVL opponent Greenville College in a 7 p.m. match.
