MILWAUKEE, WIS.—The Carthage College women's basketball team faced #12 UW-River Falls on day two of the Wisconsin Lutheran College Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons entered their bout with the Lady Reds fresh off a 66-61 victory over tournament host Wisconsin Lutheran last night. A two-game win streak along with an opportunity to defeat a ranked opponent was at stake for Carthage.

Despite being in an 11-point hole on two occasions, the Lady Reds found a way to return the favor in the final score.

Mandy Hozzian combined for 13 three-pointers to help the Lady Reds secure a 74-60 victory over #12 UW-River Falls.
Harris and Hozzian's efforts throughout the two-day event landed them a spot on the Paul F. Knueppel
 Classic All-Tournament Team.Â

Kaelber, Harris and Hozzian each tallied a three-pointer for the Lady Reds in the opening frame, but it was the Falcons who capitalized on five second-chance points to help secure an 18-15 advantage.

The Falcons began the second quarter with an 8-0 run thanks to back-to-back three-pointers from Brynn Liljander, and a pair of Mikaela Wilson free throws. This made the score 26-15 in favor of UW-River Falls at the 8:20 mark of the second quarter.Â

However, the Lady Reds gave UW-River Falls a dose of their own medicine and outscored them 18-15 in the second half to tie the score 33-33. Two three pointers from Hozzian, followed by one from
Bailey Gilbert ignited an 18-7 Carthage run to close the first half.

The three ball continued to be the remedy for the Lady Reds heading into the third quarter. Hozzian, Harris and Kaelber each notched two three-pointers to help push the Carthage lead to 59-46 after the third quarter.

Kaelber's fourth and fifth triple highlighted an 11-0 run to begin the fourth quarter to widen the Lady Red lead to 70-46 with 5:48 remaining in the game. The Falcons began to mount a comeback from that point forward, but it was too late as Carthage locked a 74-60 victory.

The Lady Reds shot 14-of-25 (.560) from beyond the arch while the Falcons were 6-of-21 (.286). Â The Carthage record for three-pointers made by the team was 15 against Lawrence University on February 25, 1997. Â

Kaelber paced all scorers with 19 points while going 5-for-7 from the three-point line. Harris added 16 points and eight rebounds. Hozzian registered a career afternoon for the Lady Reds. She notched a career-high 15 points, five three-point field goals and tied for a career-high five field goals.
