KENOSHA, WIS.—Family weekend themed the Carthage College women's soccer team's game with Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Reds entered their bout with the Titans in a tie for fourth place with North Central College (Ill.) in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin standings.
Â
A Carthage victory on Saturday afternoon would put them in a tie for second place with Illinois Wesleyan in the CCIW standings. The playoff implications combined with home-cooking gave the Lady Reds every reason to believe they could make a dent in the standings. Getting over that hump would mean getting past Titan goalkeeper Katie Denney, who sported a 1.05 goals against average prior to Saturday afternoon.
Â
Carthage couldn't find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan. Carthage falls to 9-6-0, 3-3-0 CCIW while the Titans improve to 9-5-2, 5-1-0 CCIW.
