Vikings and Big Blue To Invade Art Keller Field This Week

 


KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team will return to Art Keller Field this week for back-to-back College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin games. First on the Lady Red's docket is a showdown with North Park University on Wednesday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. Carthage's two-game home swing will end in a bout with Millikin University on Saturday, October 15 at 5:00 p.m.
 
The Lady Reds snapped a three-game losing skid in a 2-1 victory at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday, October 8. Corinne Brennan and Kayla McGuinness each tallied a goal to lift Carthage over the Raiders. Carthage also notched their first goal since a 1-0 advantage over #24 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 23.
 
Maggie Washelesky, who leads the Lady Reds scoring attack with eight points, is ranked #37 in NCAA Division III with three game-winning goals this season. Danielle Noverini is next on the scoring chart with four assists. Freshman goalkeeper Emily Furmanek owns a 1.01 goals against average and a .818 save percentage in 10 goalkeeping starts for Carthage.
 
ABOUT NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY (2-7-1, 1-3-1 CCIW)
 
The Vikings will take a three-game losing skid into their matchup with the Lady Reds. They own one victory in their last six games, which occurred in a 1-0 decision over Millikin University on September 28. North Park's other victory came in an 8-1 advantage over Wisconsin Lutheran College on September 12.
 
Delaney Kress commands the North Park University scoring charts with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Kress's 11 points ranks fifth among all CCIW women's soccer players. Emily McIntyre is on her heels with four goals and one assist for nine points. Sydney Martinez carries a 2.44 goals against average and a .731 save percentage in 10 goalkeeping starts for the Vikings this season.  Her 68 saves in 2016 ranks first among all CCIW goalkeepers.
 
The 2016 season is Chris Wright's sixth as North Park University head women's soccer coach.
 
Carthage owns a 15-5-1 all-time record against the Vikings.
 
ABOUT MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY (7-3-1, 2-1-0 CCIW)
 
The Big Blue will enter their meeting with Illinois College tomorrow, October 11 with a three-game win streak. This includes a 1-0 victory over Elmhurst on October 1, a 7-0 decision over Rockford University on October 5, and a 1-0 shutout against North Central College on October 8. Their other CCIW contest occurred in a 1-0 loss to North Park University on September 28.
 
Jenna Eaker leads the Big Blue scoring attack with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Raven Withaar is next with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Anna Benvenuto leads all CCIW goalkeepers with a .870 save percentage, and ranks third in the conference with a 0.80 goals against average.
 
Kate McArthur is in her third season as Millikin University head women's soccer coach. The Lady Reds own a 17-3-0 all-time record against the Big Blue.

Carthage will travel to Elmhurst College on Wednesday, October 19 for a 5:00 p.m. game before they take on Illinois Wesleyan University at Art Keller Field on Saturday, October 22 at 5:00 p.m.
