Men's Soccer Competes In Bob Baptista Invitational This Weekend

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's soccer team returns to action back in the Midwest as the Red Men take on a tough field in the 2015 Wheaton College Bob Baptista Invitaitonal.  Carthage will play two games in two days, Friday, September 5th and Saturday, September 6th.

Carthage (0-1-0) enters play outside of Chicago coming off a tough overtime loss in their season opener, falling at Colorado College, 3-2, on a golden goal in the second minute of overtime.

Friday, Carthage will open with a match against Washington University of St. Louis (1-0-0) at Wheaton's Joe Bean Stadium at 2 p.m.  Washington opened the season with a convincing 3-0 win over Greenville this past Tuesday.  This will be the second-ever meeting against Washington with the Bears leading the all-time series 1-0, after defeating the Red Men in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

Saturday at 2 p.m., Carthage will closeout their three-game road trip to open the season with a match against Bethel University (1-0-0), also at Wheaton's Joe Bean Stadium.  Bethel opened the season with a 1-0 win over the University of Northwestern (Minn.), and will face Wheaton in their first game of the Bob Baptista Invitational on Friday.  Saturday's meeting will be the first ever matchup between the two programs.

Following this weekend's action, The Red Men will return home and open play at Art Keller Field for the first time this year on Tuesday, September 8th when Carthage hosts Olivet College at 7 p.m.
