Men's Soccer Tops RMU-Lake County, 6-0

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's soccer team took care of business Saturday night defeating Robert Morris University-Lake Country, 6-0, at Carthage's Art Keller Field.

With the win the Red Men improve to 5-4-0 and 3-1-0 at Art Keller Field.

Carthage controlled the pace of the game and all statistical categories, outshooting the Eagles 26-2 and 10-0 on target.  Much of Red Men's success started out of the back courtesy of the backline consisting of Filip Dyminski, Giles Phillips, Jamie Tausend and Jake Bukiri.  The Red Men also had a 10-0 advantage in corners.

Carthage opened the scoring in the 16th minute when a cross by Nick Vogel was headed in by an Eagle defender for an own goal to give the Red Men the early, 1-0, lead.

Carthage would tack on two more before the half as Filip Dyminski put on in the back of the net in the 25th minute and Kevin Mahoney added his third goal of the season in the 27th minute.

Nick Vogel would get a goal of his own when he finished off a Johnny Rimkus pass in the 53rd minute, and then Rimkus would get one of his own in the 58th minute.

The scoring would be closed out when a cross by Benjamin Poder would be misplayed in front of the net for an own goal for the second time tonight in the 68th minute.

The goalkeeping trio of Evan Bott, Niko Mavrogiannis and Nicholas Sucher combined for the Carthage shutout.

Giles Philips would finish the evening with two assists, while Ivan Chavez, Sahr Mahoney and Johnny Rimkus would each have one.

The Red Men continue their five-game homestand Tuesday, September 29th with the Central region's #1 team, the University of Chicago.  The Maroons will be the Red Men's final tune-up before opening the CCIW slate, October 3rd against North Central College.
