Lady Reds Drop Midweek Matinee At UW-La Crosse, 4-0

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision Wednesday afternoon to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at UWL's Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.

After turning away Carthage's first shot of the match in the opening minutes, La Crosse scored two quick goals in the first 13 minutes to give UWL the early 2-0 lead.

UWL would add a third first half goal in the 43rd minute to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

Carthage (1-5-0) turned the pressure up on La Cross (4-2-0) in the second half, outshooting UWL 7-6, and earning a 4-1 edge on corners for the half.

Rachel Post led the Lady Reds with three total shots, while Darcy Stoecklin, Kara Aittama, Maggie Washelesky and Lauren Szumski each had one shot on target.

Carthage will look to snap their short two-game losing streak a week from today when the Lady Reds travel to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, September 23rd, for a 4 p.m. match at UWSP's Point Soccer Bowl against the Pointers.
