KENOSHA, Wis. -
Maggie Washelesky scored two goal in the first half for Carthage College (1-4-0) but it wasn't enough as the women's soccer team fell Saturday at Art Keller Field to St. Norbert College (3-1-0), 3-2.
Â
Carthage opened the scoring in the 12th minute when
Kara Aittama found
Corinne Brennan in the left corner who crossed it in to Washelesky at the top of the six for the easy one-touch finish.Â
Â
St. Norbert's Katie Vanden Avond scored the first of her two goals to pull the Green Knights even at 1-1 in the 24th minute.
Â
In the 41st minute, Corinne Brenna once again found the foot of
Maggie Washelesky, this time off a corner that was driven low and hard which Washelesky hit right over the head of the St. Norbert goalkeeper before she could react to the shot.
Â
Carthage would take the 2-1 lead into the half and came out in the second controlling the pace of the game.Â
Â
However, following Vanden Avond's second goal that tied the game again, St. Norbert scored a late game winner as an unmarked Monica Stephans was able to beat
Kate Perry in the 87th minute.
Â
Perry finished with seven saves in the match.
Â
As a team Carthage and St. Norbert were even in shots and shots on goal with 16 shots each and 10 on target.  Carthage did however hold the advantage in corners, doubling-up St. Norbert, 8-4.
