The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (16-3, 5-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) won a semifinal game in the CCIW Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday, April 29 with an 8-4 decision over Elmhurst College (7-9) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
The Red Men are the top seed in the tournament and the Bluejays were the fourth-seeded team. In the other semifinal contest, second-seeded Augustana (Ill., 13-4) edged third-seeded Illinois Wesleyan University (10-7), 10-9, at Thorson-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill. Carthage will play host to Augustana (Ill.) in the Saturday, May 1 championship game at Art Keller Field, beginning at 1 p.m.
The Elmhurst game was tied, 1-1, after the first period and still tied, 2-2, at halftime. Carthage scored four unanswered goals in the third period to take a 6-2 lead.
Dylan Harris (Fr., Carlsbad, Calif.) scored three of those four goals. The two teams each scored a pair of goals in the final period for the 8-4 margin.
Dylan Harris wound up scoring four goals with one assist and two ground balls.
Tanner Thomas (Jr., Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) had two goals, and Rémy Giacotto (Sr., Elmwood Park, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) converted 11-of-15 faceoffs. Goalkeeper
Ryan Smith (So., Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) collected 10 saves. Jackson Mandli and Alex Opyd scored two goals each for the Bluejays.
