The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (11-5, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) completed its regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 25 with a 16-6 win over CCIW-opponent Elmhurst College (9-8, 2-4 CCIW) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
Carthage will be the second-seeded team in next week's CCIW Women's Lacrosse Tournament and will be at home for a Wednesday, April 29 semifinal contest against third-seeded North Central College (10-4, 4-2). The Lady Reds edged the Cardinals, 15-13, on April 15 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill. Top-seeded Augustana College (Ill., 16-1, 6-0) will also be at home for a Wednesday semifinal game
against fourth-seeded Elmhurst (9-8, 2-4). In the win over Elmhurst, Carthage broke a 2-2 tie in the first half with four unanswered goals, en route to a 9-4 halftime lead. The Lady Reds out-scored the Bluejays, 4-2, in the second period.
Mackenzie Day (So., Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) Carthage with five goals and one assist.
Elizabeth Wittenborg (Jr., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) scored three goals with four assists and two ground balls, while
Hannah Bellenbaum (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) had three goals, six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Phoebe LeRoy led the Elmhurst with four goals.
