The Carthage College softball team (3-5, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) lost two games on Tuesday, March 24 at the National Training Center Springs Games in Clermont, Fla. The Lady Reds fell to No. 5 Wisconsin-Whitewater (5-2), 8-0, before being edged by D'Youville College (6-4) by a 5-4 margin.

Makenzie Walker (0-3) gave up all nine runs on 13 hits and two walks over four and one-third innings. Bekka Houda (3-1) blanked the Lady Reds on three hits and a walk over five innings.
Carthage had a 4-1 lead after three innings against D'Youville, as
Olivia Scott tripled in two runs in the second inning. The Spartans scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, 4-4, and Lydia Monin's RBI-single in the eighth inning won it in extra innings. Kalie McHenry (4-1) was the winning pitcher.
Katie Herron took the loss for the Lady Reds. She allowed all five runs, just one earned, on nine hits and four walks.
