The Carthage College men's volleyball team (18-6, 10-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League), ranked No. 8 in the March 17 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 4-0 on a four-match trip to Buffalo, N.Y. on Saturday-Sunday, March 21-22.
 
Carthage opened the trip on Saturday, March 21 with a 3-2 win over Medaille College (13-11) and a 3-0 sweep of Hilbert College (1-23) at Medaille's Sullivan Center.  The Red Men's winning set scores over the Mavericks were 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25 and 17-15, and their winning scores over the Hawks were 25-12, 25-7 and 25-14.  On Sunday, March 22, Carthage defeated No. 9 New York University (12-7), 3-1, before sweeping D'Youville College (12-8), 3-0, D'Youville College Center.  The Red Men's winning set scores over the Violets were, and their winning scores over the Spartans were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-20.

Griffin Shields (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led the Red Men in the Medaille contest with 19 kills and a .293 attack percentage, along with six digs and six block assists, while Jon Storm (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) collected 10 kills with 11digs and six block assists.  Setter Ricky Figueroa (Fr., Newberry Park, Ca./Oaks Christian) gathered 45 assists.  Jack Hagerty led Medaille with 15 kills and a .542 attack percentage.  In the win over Hilbert, J.P. Tulacka (Jr., Westmont, Ill./Downers Grove-North) had a match-high nine kills.
  
Storm had 10 kills and hit .300 in the New York match.  Matt Ciaglia (Sr., Roselle, Ill./Lake Park West) had nine kills and hit. 615 with a block solo and eight block assists.  Nick Benson had 14 kills for New York.  Shields had 16 kills and hit. 379 with six digs against D'Youville, while Figueroa had 37 assists.  Brock Tetreault led the Spartans with eight kills.
 
Carthage travels to Howards Grove, Wis., on Wednesday, March 25 to play conference-opponent Lakeland College (13-14, 6-4 MCVL) in a 7 p.m. match at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
