Men's Lacrosse Defeats Benedictine (Ill.), 14-5, on Feb. 28

Game-Time Temperature of 13 Degrees at the Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex

With a game-time temperature of 13 degrees in Lisle, Ill., the Carthage College men's lacrosse team (3-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) defeated Benedictine University (Ill., 1-1), 14-5, on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.
 
Carthage led, 4-3, after the first period, 8-3 at halftime and 9-4 going into the fourth period.  The Red Men's Billy Lane (So., Centennial, Colo./Kent Denver) scored five goals with one assist and nine ground balls.  Timothy Francis (Sr., Costa Mesa, Calif./Huntington Beach( had three goals with two assists and Jared Ferrell (Jr., Trabuco Canyon, Calif./El Toro) three goals.  Rémy Giacotto (Sr., Elmwood Park, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) converted 15-of-22 faceoffs, and goalkeeper Ryan Smith (So., Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) collected 11 saves.  Tony DePinto led the Eagles with three goals.
 
Carthage opens at home on Saturday, March 7 by playing host to Centre College (2-1) in a Noon contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
