The Carthage College men's volleyball team (8-4, 6-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League), ranked No. 7 in the Feb. 24 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept conference-opponent and No. 14 the College of Mount St. Joseph (10-5, 4-2), 3-1, on Friday, Feb. 27 at the Harrington Center in Cincinnati. The Red Men's winning set scores over the Lions were 25-21, 25-23, 20-25 and 25-19. Carthage remains in sole possession of first place in the league.
Zach Lillig (Fr., Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) led the Red Men with 15 kills and a .667 attack percentage.
Jon Storm (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had 11 kills and six digs, while
Matt Ciaglia (Sr., Roselle, Ill./Lake Park West) collected 10 kills with a .500 mark, along with two block solos and three block assists. Setter
Ricky Figueroa (Fr., Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian) had 44 assists. Alex Vohland led the Lions with 23 kills and 17 digs, while Adam Williams had 14 kills.
On Sunday, March 1, the Red Men motor on to St. Louis, Mo., to play conference-opponent Fontbonne University (3-13, 0-6 MCVL) in a Noon match at Maybee Gymnasium.
